An A-board (also known as a pavement sign, sandwich board or folding advertising board) is a handy freestanding display that lets you put even the pavement to work in your advertising campaign!

It is a small stand-up advertising board on a support, with a single- or double-sided information area. The graphics are applied with self-adhesive film or by full-colour printing.

Compact, mobile and affordable, A-boards are in high demand among business owners who want to draw passers-by to their premises.

RVK Tashuta offers high-quality, fast A-board manufacturing to your requirements and wishes. Want to buy an A-board in Kyiv or any other city in Ukraine? Buy from us! We will help you choose the right one!

Types of A-boards:

It is a silent PR manager that needs no salary! Placed outside a shop, café or any other venue that potential visitors should know about, advertising A-boards guide, inform and build your image.

They usually show key identifying information (name, opening hours and so on) that not only catches the customer's eye but also sparks their interest.

That is why advertising A-board manufacturing is a much-needed service today, especially with competition as fierce as it is.

2.Currency exchange A-boards

Making an A-board for a bank or exchange office is a more complex and resource-intensive process. Such a board not only helps people find the financial institution itself but also displays the current exchange rates, which change all the time.

It comes with flip segments or number cards. It also works as a branded display carrying the owner's corporate identity.

3. Snap frame A-boards

You should buy an A-board with a snap frame if you want to change the content of its display area often, quickly and hassle-free (for example, to announce discounts or promotions at your venue).

An A-board built around a frame with a snap-open anodised aluminium profile is very convenient, reliable, stylish and attractive. It can have square or rounded corners.

It is very lightweight and has a clear PVC protective cover into which you slip an advertising poster printed on a printer. To order posters in our online shop, see the “Printing” section.

4. Wooden A-board

A portable “relative” of the classic school blackboard. A wooden A-board lets the owner update information often and themselves using chalk (for example, special offers or new items on the menu or in the range).

The wooden frame and chalkboard film give a venue a special traditional character. That is why these boards are most popular in pubs, bars and restaurants that put an emphasis on atmosphere.

You can buy an A-board with a chalk writing surface at an affordable price right here!

Main A-board designs:

Paper clip A-board

The solid, classic and sturdy metal frame of the paper clip A-board allows it to withstand even strong winds.

That is because the frame is made from round tube (colour of your choice) bent into the shape of a paper clip, with a panel attached to its upper part by steel rings. The panel is made from durable, weatherproof materials.

By ordering a paper clip A-board, you get a high-quality, reliable and vandal-resistant advertising tool.

T-shaped A-board

If you want to buy an A-board suitable for both outdoor and indoor use, consider the affordable standard T-shaped A-board with a rectangular panel.

It has a metal base with two legs in the shape of an inverted letter “T”. It stands out for its low weight and stability combined with a long service life.

It is made from square steel tube, painted in any colour and treated with an anti-corrosion coating. The panel is fixed around the perimeter of the frame with special lugs welded to it. It copes well with strong winds.

T-shaped arched A-board

This design differs from the standard T-shaped A-board in its top, which is curved into an arch. That makes the T-shaped arched A-board more attractive in appearance.

An arched A-board is made from bent round tube which, at your request and for an extra charge, can be painted in any colour (besides the standard ones). A durable, easy-to-use and fairly affordable option that helps boost sales of your services or goods.

A-frame A-board

RVK Tashuta makes advertising A-boards in a variety of designs, and the A-frame is no exception. When opened, it resembles the letter “A”, which is why it is also called a tent, house, book or folding board.

It has two display areas (graphic panels) rather than one, so it costs more. But the extra cost is fully justified: it is a very convenient, stable and smart metal structure, suitable for both outdoor and indoor use.

It folds flat into 1 plane and needs no space for legs.

Arched A-frame

A variant of the rectangular A-frame: a folding A-board with a rounded top.

A very common type of A-board that stands up well to the elements.

It is also easy to use and has a reliable, stable metal frame with two display surfaces joined by steel hinges.

In our online shop you can buy an arched A-frame A-board on favourable terms!

Materials for the A-board display surface

Besides your wishes and budget, before ordering an A-board it is very important to decide where it will stand (indoors or outdoors). This directly determines the choice of material for its graphic panel.

We currently use 4 types of material, each with its own pros and cons and its own ability to cope with particular stresses, including the weather.

1. PVC

The most popular polymer material, widely used for all kinds of advertising products.

Advantages of an A-board with a PVC panel:

  • Low weight (important for a freestanding display).
  • Easy to process (it can be cut to any shape).
  • Low price (keeps costs down).

Disadvantages of an A-board with a PVC panel:

  • Brittleness (if the A-board falls, a piece of the panel can easily break off).
  • Not UV-resistant (without a film covering it will yellow over time and lose its looks).
  • We don't recommend it for an outdoor paper clip A-board – it won't last.

2. Galvanised steel

Used in many fields, notably construction (as a roofing and cladding material) and the advertising industry (in making outdoor advertising).

Advantages of an A-board with a galvanised steel panel:

  • Low cost (affordable for most customers).
  • Rigidity (if the panel is securely fixed on all sides, it will withstand any stress, from wind to impact).
  • Weather resistance (which makes it suitable for outdoor use).

Disadvantages of an A-board with a galvanised steel panel:

  • Heavier than PVC (which matters for portable structures, especially some designs such as the A-frame).
  • Thin material (where there are no clamping pads, it may deform, leaving a less than perfectly flat surface).
  • In a paper clip A-board it will bend the first time it falls. Handle with care!

3. Aluminium composite panel

Aluminium composite panels (ACM) have already carved out a niche as an ultra-modern cladding material with a unique 3-layer structure. Naturally, they have also found their way into advertising production, as composite has special performance and decorative properties.

Advantages of an A-board with an aluminium composite panel:

  • Low weight (combined with high impact resistance, such an A-board is easy to move around).
  • Rigidity (ideal for all types of A-boards, both outdoor and indoor).
  • Flexibility and ease of processing (the composite panel can be cut to any shape).

Disadvantages of an A-board with an aluminium composite panel:

  • Only one, but a significant one: the material is expensive. Still, deciding to buy an A-board with an aluminium composite panel is a justified one-off investment in a high-quality, long-lasting advertising product.

4. Banner fabric

Banner fabric (vinyl) is a material for large-format printing, used in both outdoor and indoor advertising.

Advantages of an A-board with a banner fabric panel:

  • Low, attractive price (the A-board comes out quite inexpensive).
  • Lightness (the fabric adds no weight to the structure at all).
  • Easy to fix (the banner is usually attached with cord or plastic cable ties).

Disadvantages of an A-board with a banner fabric panel:

  • Vulnerability (easily vandalised: the banner is not hard to cut or tear off).
  • Image sharpness on a banner falls short of that on a rigid surface.
  • Not universal (banner fabric does not suit every type of A-board frame).

A-board design:

Think seven times, order once! That is how the well-known proverb could be rephrased for the design of your future A-board. The aim is for it to build recognition of your venue and attract as many customers as possible.

An A-board panel is not a billboard, so it is important to fit everything that matters to you and that will lure others onto a small surface. Think carefully: what could interest a potential customer?

Come up with an unusual, colourful, eye-catching design. If you like, our designers will help! Present your promotions, discounts, low prices or new arrivals in an interesting way – perhaps even with humour – but the A-board must convince passers-by that they can't do without you!

Choose an image that clearly conveys what your business does. A slogan can also work well as a short introduction to the services or goods you offer. We recommend double-sided A-boards, which work for pedestrians walking in both directions.

Every graphic element on the A-board, including directions and contact details, should serve one purpose: to be useful and interesting to potential customers. Invite people in – and don't forget the arrow! And remember: if your A-board gets on your competitors' nerves, you're on the right track!

Buying an A-board that helps your business succeed is much easier than it seems. RVK Tashuta offers you cooperation on favourable terms.

Preparing artwork for an A-board

1. If you are preparing the artwork yourself, please note:

  • the artwork should be made at 1:1 scale with a print bleed of + 1 cm on each side (for self-adhesive film application) and without bleed if printing on banner fabric;
  • for full-colour printing a resolution of 150 dpi is enough;
  • for graphics applied with self-adhesive Oracal film, the file must be prepared in vector format (in CorelDRAW or Illustrator);
  • be sure to convert the colour palette to CMYK.

2. If our designer prepares the A-board artwork, please send us your requirements:

  • The text to go on the A-board. It is important to phrase the information that matters to you clearly, in a way that catches the attention of passers-by.
  • Logo. For the A-board to build recognition of your company, provide the source file of your corporate identity.
  • Preferred colour scheme. Either based on your brand book or as you wish.
  • Photo. You can attach one to your brief (at least 2000-3000 pixels) or describe what you need so the designer can find a suitable photo for the A-board.

Image quality in full-colour printing

Because an A-board is small, image quality must meet high standards: small text sharp, colours bright and rich, and the material suitable for outdoor use.

We use latest-generation equipment that prints high-quality images with rich colours (see the large-format printing section). We use only European-quality print materials, proven over the years.
