"Italia" product riser, 250x440x370 mm. Three levels spaced vertically by wavy shaped back uprights, with small projecting ledges on the uprights. The vertical backs are more than supports: they close off the display at the back, so the products are seen against their own background, not against whatever stands behind the riser.

A back panel as a display backdrop
A riser that is open at the back shows the product against whatever happens to be behind it: neighbouring shelves, the wall, the aisle. A vertical back panel cuts out that background and turns the display into a scene of its own — on a busy shop floor the difference is obvious at once.
The same trick also works against glare: a clear riser reflects all the lighting in the room behind it, and the back panel removes that glare.
Shaped outline
The wavy edge of the uprights is laser cut: a saw cannot produce a smooth curve, and a milling cutter leaves it faceted. A curved outline is also stiffer than a straight one, so a tall, thin upright does not warp.
Three levels and thickness
- the levels are staggered both in height and sideways, so each row is fully visible;
- small protruding shelves on the uprights keep small items separate from the main range;
- the thickness is chosen according to the weight of the display and the height of the uprights.
Care
Glass cleaner eats into acrylic and leaves a haze that cannot be polished out. Wash with warm water, a mild detergent and a soft cloth, and wipe while damp — see acrylic product care.
The riser is used in display cases, on counters and on shop-floor podiums — wherever a display needs a backdrop of its own. It is cut and bent from sheet acrylic.
