Slatwall shelf 250x50x125 mm, thickness 3 mm. A single bent strip: a horizontal platform, a vertical back with a fold at the top and a raised front edge. The thickness here is fixed rather than chosen: the shelf is designed for a load under which a thin sheet would already flex over this span.

Why the thickness is fixed
Sheet thickness is chosen by the weight of the display and the free span between supports. On a shelf this long, the span is large enough for the difference between a thin and a thick sheet to show not in theory but as sagging under the goods.
What holds the display
- the raised front edge stops the pair sliding off the platform;
- the fold along the top of the back acts as a stiffening rib;
- the part is bent from a single strip, with no seams along its length.
How it fits into a row
Rows on slatwall follow the pitch of the panel's own slots, so the height between tiers is worked out in advance. Shoes on a shelf need breathing room: pairs packed tightly read as a mass, and the shopper stops telling models apart.
Care
Ammonia-based glass cleaner leaves a web of micro-cracks on acrylic that polishing will not remove. A soft cloth, warm water and a drop of detergent are all you need; wipe it damp, as dry wiping charges the surface with static and attracts dust. More on this: caring for acrylic products.
The shelf goes on the shop floor of a shoe shop. It is bent from sheet acrylic along a heated line and the edges are polished, since on a clear product the edge is visible right through.
