Pipe Stand is a bent piece with a triangular profile and a shaped cut-out in the top edge of its sloping wall. The shank rests in it, and the pipe sits at an angle with the bowl up, touching the table with neither the mouthpiece nor the charred rim.
| Material | Clear acrylic (PMMA), 3 mm |
Why bowl up
A pipe laid on its side lets the remaining moisture in the shank run back into the bowl, and the mouthpiece rests on the table. The angled position turns it so the shank points down and the bowl stays on top. This is the working position for cooling and drying between uses, not just a way to show the item.
A shaped cut-out instead of a round one
A round hole would have to be matched to the diameter of a particular shank. A curved cut-out takes different thicknesses: a thin shank sits deeper, a thick one rests higher up the outline. One stand works with different pipes, not just one model.
Triangular profile
- A rigid shape: the structure does not fold under weight.
- Bent from a single sheet, with no joints or glued seams.
- It takes up only a few centimetres of table space.
Care
Wash with warm water, a mild detergent and a soft damp cloth. Resin from the shank leaves a stubborn mark on acrylic; do not remove it with a solvent, as acetone clouds the surface permanently. Glass cleaners containing ammonia are unsuitable for the same reason. More details: caring for acrylic products.
