Shop Shoe Display H=130mm

A shoe stand 130 mm high: a single bent piece with a zigzag fold, where the sloping backrest runs into a horizontal base. The top edge of the backrest is cut in a concave curve. The shoe stands toe up, resting its sole on the slope instead of lying flat, so shoppers see the upper of the model, not just its silhouette.

Why the slope

A shoe placed flat on a shelf shows the shopper its side and sole. The slope turns the upper of the pair towards the eye, showing the toe, vamp and trim, which is exactly what people choose shoes by.

The concave curve on the top edge of the backrest follows the instep and does not dig into a soft upper.

How to choose the height

• low ones suit trainers and loafers, lifting the pair just above the shelf;
• medium ones are used for everyday shoes;
• high ones turn a heeled shoe or a boot almost upright.

A row of stands of the same height reads as a line-up; a row of different heights reads as steps, with the top pair singled out. Shoppers notice what is raised higher first.

Thickness to suit the weight of the pair

The thickness is chosen by the weight of the footwear and by the span left between the support points. A thin sheet is enough for a light summer pair; for a winter boot, go thicker, otherwise the sloping surface flexes noticeably under load.

Care

Acrylic is softer than glass, and what damages it is not the footwear but the cleaning: ammonia-based glass cleaner leaves a network of micro-cracks that can no longer be polished out.

Wash with warm water, a mild detergent and a soft cloth, and wipe while damp: dry wiping charges the surface with static and attracts dust. More details: caring for acrylic products.

This stand belongs in shoe shop windows, on podiums and on shelves. It is bent from a single sheet of acrylic along a heated line: a proper bend stays clear, and a whitish streak on it means the sheet was bent before it was hot enough.
