The 150x30x190 mm stand sits on a round base, with two comb strips slotted into it vertically and extending beyond its edge. Nine pens lie across the strips in a fan, and the stand takes up a round footprint on the counter that can be approached from any side.

Round base, all-round view

A rectangular stand has a front and a back: come at it from the wrong side and you see the ends. A round one works the same from every direction, so it is placed in the middle of a counter rather than against a wall. The strips extend beyond the edge of the base, so the outer slots hang free and stand well apart from the rest.

Height needs a level surface

The stand is tall for its shallow depth, so its centre of gravity is higher than that of a flat tray. That is exactly why the base is round and wide. Place the stand on a flat, stable surface, away from the edge of the shelf, rather than on a sliding mat or a stack of paper.

The pen lies crosswise

• The item rests on two combs at once — along its axis, not at a single point.
• The whole barrel is visible, not just the cap.
• It lifts straight out, and its neighbours stay in place.

Acrylic care

Wash with warm water, a mild detergent and a soft damp cloth. Ammonia-based glass cleaners are unsuitable for acrylic: they leave a network of micro-cracks that clouds the surface and cannot be polished out.
