Mobile Phone Stand, 55x120x75mm. A round disc base with a steep, narrow inclined support rising from it and a small lip at the bottom. The circle was chosen over a rectangle not for looks: a disc has no corners to give the stand a 'right' side, so it looks the same whichever way it is turned.

Round base

A rectangular stand in a display case has to be lined up with the edge of the shelf, or it looks crooked. A disc has no lines for the eye to check the angle against: whichever way you turn it, the arrangement never looks askew.

The same circle gives even support in every direction: the phone is picked up from different angles and the stand does not tip onto its edge.

Narrow steep support

• the steep tilt holds the phone almost upright, so the screen is visible from the aisle;
• the narrow support takes up little room behind the phone and is barely visible;
• a small lip at the bottom takes the edge and stops the body sliding down.

Thickness to suit the phone's weight

The stand has a single support and no side ribs, so it takes all the weight. For heavy phones choose thicker sheet: at a steep tilt a thin support visibly wobbles every time the phone is taken off.

Care

Never clean acrylic with glass cleaner: ammonia leaves a network of micro-cracks for good. A soft cloth, warm water and a drop of detergent are all you need; wipe while wet: caring for acrylic products.

The stand goes on the counter, an island table and in an all-round display case. The disc is laser-cut from sheet acrylic, as a saw cannot produce a circle.
