Smartphone Stand with Price Tag, 85x110mm. A horizontal base plate with an inclined rest above it and a tall shaped back with a row of tightly curled hooks. The curls run one after another up the full height, each holding a card or a small accessory, so the back is a working surface rather than a backdrop.

A back with several slots

An ordinary back holds the phone and that is all. A row of curls turns it into several independent slots: the price, the model name and a short description can sit on separate cards one above the other and be changed one at a time.

What holds the phone

• the inclined rest takes the phone body;
• the base plate keeps the centre of gravity low;
• the curls do not touch the phone and do not get in the way when it is picked up with one hand.

How it is made

The row of tightly curled hooks is formed by bending a single sheet of acrylic along heated lines. When fully heated, every bend stays clear; a whitish band on a bend means the sheet was bent underheated.

The edges are polished: on a piece with this many curved faces, a matt saw cut would show along the whole outline.

Care

Ammonia-based glass cleaner leaves a network of micro-cracks on acrylic that cannot be repaired. Wash with warm water, a mild detergent and a soft cloth: caring for acrylic products.

The stand goes on the counter and in the display case of a mobile phone shop, where you need to show more than one line of information next to the phone.
